Huron River<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We walked by the river its arms all gold<br \/>\nin winter sun like tin.<br \/>\nWorkshops of afternoon hummed along elsewhere.<br \/>\nWe noted ice at the shore<br \/>\nand ice on plants<br \/>\nand ice from the light fixtures under the railway bridge exploding &#8211;<br \/>\n<em>Squid<\/em>, you said.<br \/>\nTime toppled past us.<br \/>\nThere were no trains, no sunset.<br \/>\nGeese lapped at an edge, eyes inward on their sunk city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. The Pool in Winter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Walking to the pool in winter I think of you.<br \/>\nAnd sway on them (thoughts) in the water too, blue, ablaze, you,<br \/>\nwho once asked me<br \/>\n<em>Do you ever swim really fast?<\/em><br \/>\nand I, wanting to be great to you,<br \/>\nsaid <em>Oh Yes<\/em>, busily and pretended to laugh.<br \/>\nThe pool has a deep clear sky like a marsh.<br \/>\nBright as tongues is every light.<br \/>\nSo I go on, my life goes, a few lies, a sweep of love, lap<br \/>\nafter lap, ordinary  motion and something else sent<br \/>\npast vast glass out of sight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Chicago<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shrieks (white) and shades (suede) of dirty cold.<br \/>\nI walked down Montrose to the shore of  the lake.<br \/>\nPast a shut Park Bait  Shop  and a boat<br \/>\nnamed <em>Temperance II<\/em>,<br \/>\nboat named <em>Mr Bright Eye<\/em>,<br \/>\nmud-knobbed fields,<br \/>\nrusted-out barbecue from medieval times.<br \/>\nDog on the beach cavorting bleakly.<br \/>\nLake is as ugly as a motel room.<br \/>\nWalls don&#8217;t meet. Stains sag. One angel yawns in a horny heaven.<br \/>\nAgainst north wind I struggle back to where I was warm when I woke.<br \/>\nOn the teapot a note from you about breathing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Wild Sex<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I walked to a coast.<br \/>\nThe moon was in tumult.<br \/>\nIt reminded me of of walking down the alley where (you pointed) the pile of bricks<br \/>\nused to be,<br \/>\nin the days when hookers came in from the street<br \/>\nand built a bit of wall there<br \/>\nto take their tricks behind.<br \/>\nEach morning Dave (landlord) unbuilt the wall.<br \/>\nHe never put rise bricks anywhere else, like<br \/>\ninside.<br \/>\nIn reminded me of a feeling of &#8216;sudden school&#8217; I get<br \/>\nwhenever men mention hookers<br \/>\ncasually.<br \/>\nIt reminded me of the word <em>glissando<\/em>.\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walks for Girls and Boys for RC 1.
